Blackgram dal - 1 cup(250ml cup)
Bengalgram dal cup
Red chillies 25 (long variety)
Corianderseeds 1 tablespoon
Cashewnut - 15
Asafoetida(broken into pieces) 1 big piece
Gingelly oil - 2 tablespoons
Desicated coconut 5 tablespoons


1.Heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida first and when it is almost black,add all the other ingredients except the desiccated coconut.
2.Saute on medium flame till all the dals are rich brown in colour. 3.Spread on a sheet of paper and allow it to cool.
4.Add desiccated coconut and grind to a coarse powder in the mixie.

This can be stored in an air tight container for about 6 months and upto a year in the freezer.
